Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Open Evening Thursday 6th October 2016

The decision you take on which secondary school to send your child is one of the most challenging as a parent. You have to consider whether your child will excel academically, flourish socially and ultimately be happy.

I should like you to give consideration to The Bishop of Llandaff as your preferred choice. I believe you should strongly consider us as your preferred school because

·         In 2016, we celebrated record-breaking GCSE and A Level results for the second year in a row. At GCSE, 99% of our Year 11s achieved 5 A*-C grades (89% including English and mathematics). Nearly 40% of all grades were at A*-A and 35% of students achieved 5 or more A*-A grades. Our results were ranked as one of the best in the UK and students achieved 15% higher than expectations, based on end of key stage 2 performance;

·         Similarly, A Level results were equally strong. 86% of results were at A*-C; 64% A*-B and 99% A*-E. While around half of our students were successful in gaining a place at Oxbridge, medicine and Russell group universities, every student had a progression route to the next stage of their career;

·         We have outstanding students who are eager to learn, are well mannered and behave very well. In 2015-16, our exclusions were the lowest in Wales and our attendance is the best in the city (97.4%);

·         We have a talented group of staff, committed to providing an outstanding experience to all students. We only appoint the very best teachers at The Bishop of Llandaff and, this September, we have welcomed a number of exceptional teachers to join us in supporting our students; and

·         While we have an old school site, we have invested heavily in facilities and improving the internal fabric of the building. All classrooms have high qualities equipment to ensure learning is cutting edge.

Our aim is quite simple. We want to be the best school in Wales! This means that each student, at the end of their time at The Bishop of Llandaff, could not have had a better educational experience at any other school. We want all of our students to achieve their full potential in terms of exam results, to gain life-long skills which will enable them to be successful in the world beyond school and to develop a sense of morality, rooted in our Christian values.

On Thursday 6th October 2016 we will be holding an Open Evening from 5.30pm, where you and your child will have the opportunity to take a tour of the school. I will be giving a short presentation at 5.30pm and again at 7.00pm. Please come along! If you are unable to attend you are welcome to come and visit us at any time – the school is open to visitors every day.

Please take a look at our website and school prospectus. To apply for a place simply complete and return the application form to us by 12 noon on Monday 28th November 2016, or bring it along to the school.

I look forward to meeting you at our Open Evening.

Yours sincerely,

Marc Belli
