VALE OF GLAMORGAN SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2020/2021

18th April 2019

Parents of children currently attending primary schools excluding current year 6 children

Dear Parent,

VALE OF GLAMORGAN SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2020/2021

I refer to Section 89 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 regarding the above and in particular to my communication of the 14th January 2019 relating to a proposed change to admission arrangements for community secondary schools in order to prioritise those living in a schools catchment area and to remove the feeder primary school as an oversubscription criterion. The proposed change requested any comments by 22 February 2019.

I am now writing to inform you that any comments that were received by that date have been considered alongside the proposals at Cabinet on the 15 April 2019. At that meeting, approval of the proposed changes was granted. The proposed change to the oversubscription criteria for entry to secondary education will prioritise those living in a schools catchment area and remove the feeder primary school system as an oversubscription criterion and will therefore become policy for the academic year 2020/2021. The school admission policy for 2020/2021 can be viewed on line at www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/secadmissions  Stanwell School and St Richard Gwyn Catholic School are not affected by the proposed change as they are their own admissions authority and determine their arrangements separately.

Yours sincerely

M Matthews (Mr)
