Year 5 Visit to Slade Farm 🌱🚜

On Monday, our Year 5 pupils will be visiting Slade Farm as part of an exciting food literacy programme.

This year-long project, supported by funding from Vale Food, will give children the opportunity to explore where their food comes from, learn about sustainable farming and develop a greater understanding of the journey from farm to fork.

Throughout the year, pupils will have opportunities to return to the farm, experiencing the changing seasons and discovering how food is grown and produced.

We are delighted to be involved in this project, which brings learning to life beyond the classroom and helps children develop a deeper appreciation of food, farming and the natural environment.

Our fantastic Year 6 pupils have been busy getting their hands dirty in our forest area!

Armed with gloves, litter pickers and plenty of enthusiasm, the children worked together to clear overgrown areas, collect litter, tidy our woodland and even gather some windfall apples! 🍎🌳

It was wonderful to see such brilliant teamwork, determination and pride in looking after our school environment.

Outdoor learning is about so much more than being outside. It’s about developing confidence, independence, problem-solving skills and a sense of responsibility for the world around us.

Da iawn, Year 6! 👏 You’ve made a real difference to our forest area, and we can’t wait to see how this wonderful space continues to develop.

    🌱🌷 Outdoor Learning in Year 6! 🌷🌱

On Thursday, our Year 6 children enjoyed their first outdoor learning session with Mrs King – and what a brilliant start!

The children got stuck into planting daffodils, tulips, pansies, violas, conifers, lamb’s ears and a selection of herbs.

It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the opportunity to learn outdoors, get their hands dirty and spend time in nature. We’re looking forward to watching everything grow over the coming months! 🌱

The children absolutely loved it and are already counting down to next week’s session! 💚
