Headteacher's Blog Friday 25th September

Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another very busy week at Romilly, with lots to celebrate across the school.
Thank You to Our PTA
Another big thank you this week goes to our fantastic PTA. They have generously agreed to fund more than £1,000 of new playground equipment, including balls, hoops, skipping ropes, chalk and other resources for the children to enjoy at breaktimes and lunchtimes. They are also supporting the purchase of additional music resources for use in our STEAM learning.
This kind of support makes such a difference to the experiences we can provide for our children, so thank you to everyone involved with the PTA and to all of our families who support their fundraising throughout the year.

Plaza Open Day
A real highlight today was our Plaza Open Day. It was wonderful to welcome so many parents and carers into school and give families the opportunity to see the Plaza in action. We are incredibly proud of how well the children have settled and of the confidence they are already showing in their new learning environment.
I also want to say a huge thank you to our Plaza staff. An enormous amount of thought, care and hard work has gone into creating the learning environments and supporting the children through the first few weeks of term. It was lovely to hear so much positive feedback from families today, and we are very grateful to everyone who came along and supported the event.
Year 5 Visit to Big Pit
On Monday, Year 5 will be visiting Big Pit as part of their learning. This should be a fantastic opportunity for the children to bring their topic work to life and experience an important part of Welsh history.
Fire Service Visit
On Tuesday, we will be welcoming the Fire Service into school to work with children in Years 2 and 5. These sessions will focus on important safety messages and are always an extremely valuable part of the children’s learning.
Macmillan Coffee Afternoon
On Wednesday 30 September, we are holding our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon from 2.00pm–3.00pm. We would love to welcome as many families as possible for coffee, cake and a chat while raising money for such an important cause. Our Year 6 children will also be helping by providing cakes for the afternoon.

Parents’ Evenings

Our first Parents’ Evenings of the year will take place on Tuesday 6 October and Thursday 8 October, from 3.40pm–6.10pm.
This year, we are trialling two evenings to give families greater flexibility when booking an appointment. These meetings are an important early opportunity to discuss how children have settled, how they are progressing and the key learning priorities for the year ahead.
Appointments will be 10 minutes long and will be booked through Arbor, with further information about booking arrangements have been shared today via email.

School Photos Day – New Date

PTA Annual General Meeting

A reminder that the PTA Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 7 October at 3.30pm. We are always keen to welcome new members, volunteers and class representatives. You do not have to commit lots of time to get involved — any support, however small, makes a difference.
Thank you, as always, for the continued support you give to Romilly. It has been another full and rewarding week, and I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
