Nursery Blog Friday 25th September

We have had another busy week in Nursery! We started the week with our brilliant Jump In Day, and everyone looked amazing in their costumes!

📖 Our story: The Little Red Hen

This week, we are learning to retell The Little Red Hen using actions to help us remember the story.

🎵 Singing and counting:
The children have continued to enjoy learning and singing nursery rhymes and counting songs together. They love joining in, and it is wonderful to see their confidence growing.

🤝 Making friends and sharing:
The children have started to make some lovely friendships, and we are continuing to develop their social skills. We have been learning each other’s names and taking part in activities together. The children have also been practising taking turns and sharing the toys and resources in our nursery.

✏️ Using writing tools:
We have started using crayons to draw big circles and lines. These early mark-making skills will help us as we begin to learn how to write our names.

🌳 Outside area:
We have enjoyed exploring our outdoor area, particularly the construction area, Farm shop role play and mud kitchen.

Important information for next week

Tuesday – PE Day
Please remember to wear your PE kit.

Thursday – Welly Walk
Please bring wellies or other suitable outdoor footwear.

📚 A little reminder that reading books need to be returned to school every Friday so that they can be changed ready for the following week.

Please remember to label all clothing and belongings with your child’s name.

🏡 How you can help at home

🧥 Being independent:
Encourage your child to become more independent by practising putting on and taking off their own coat and jumper. Please also encourage your child to carry their own bag and coat into nursery. Giving them time to have a go at these little tasks by themselves will help to build their confidence and independence.

👂 Listening skills:
We are working on developing our listening skills. During our Welly Walk, we will be listening carefully for different sounds in our environment. At home, you could encourage your child to stop and listen for sounds when you are outside. What can they hear?

🔤 Recognising their name:
Help your child practise recognising their own name. You could write their name on a piece of paper and see if they can spot it amongst other names or words.

🔢 Counting to 10:
Can you find and count 10 objects from around your house? You could count toys, socks, spoons, blocks or anything else you can find!
