The Jude Cantlay Kindness Award

We are incredibly proud to share that Holly is the very first recipient of the Jude Cantlay Kindness Award – what a special honour.

The award has been created in memory of Jude Cantlay, a much-loved pupil at Romilly who sadly passed away. Jude’s family wanted to find a lasting way to honour him within our school community and to celebrate one of the qualities that made Jude so special: his kindness to everyone he met.

Together, we have established an annual award for kindness in Jude’s name. Each year, our school community will help to choose a pupil who has demonstrated exceptional kindness towards others – someone whose actions reflect the care, thoughtfulness and warmth that Jude showed throughout his life.

Jude’s family have also very generously funded a beautiful Jude Cantlay Kindness Award board, which now has a permanent place in our Year 3 and 4 building. Holly’s name is the first to be added, and each year another child’s name will join hers.

Over time, the board will become a lasting record of some of the wonderful acts of kindness shown by generations of Romilly children, while ensuring that Jude and the kindness he showed to others remain an important part of our school.

We are immensely grateful to Jude’s family for allowing us to honour and remember him in such a meaningful way.

Congratulations, Holly. To be the first child to receive an award with such a special meaning is a wonderful achievement, and we are incredibly proud of you.

Most importantly, we hope the award will encourage all of our children to follow Jude’s example and remember just how powerful a simple act of kindness can be.
