  • Romilly Childcare – Open Afternoon and November Launch

    Published 25/09/26

We are delighted to confirm that Romilly Childcare, our new nursery wraparound provision, will open from Monday 2 November.

The service will offer childcare for children attending our morning Nursery session, enabling them to remain at Romilly until the end of the school day. This is an exciting new development for the school and one which we hope will provide families with greater flexibility while allowing children to spend the whole day within a familiar Romilly environment.

Before the service opens, we would love to welcome parents and carers to our Nursery Wraparound Open Afternoon on:

    Monday 5 October 2026
    1.30pm–3.00pm

The session will provide an opportunity to:

    • visit the setting and see where the children will spend their afternoons;
    • meet members of the Romilly Childcare team;
    • find out more about how the wraparound provision will work;
    • ask any questions you may have; and
    • speak with representatives about the 30 Hours Childcare Offer and available funding support.

There is no need to stay for the whole afternoon — families are very welcome to drop in at any point between 1.30pm and 3.00pm.

We know that arranging childcare can be an important consideration for families, so we are really pleased to be able to offer this provision directly from Romilly.

Romilly Childcare will officially open on Monday 2 November.

Our Romilly Childcare information brochure is attached below, which contains further details about the service, including arrangements, funding and how to book a place.

We look forward to welcoming families to the Open Afternoon and to seeing Romilly Childcare up and running in November.

  • Parent Help Out Day – Friday 9 October

    Published 25/09/26

We are delighted to confirm that our first Parent Help Out Day of the year will take place on Friday 9 October.

These mornings are a fantastic opportunity for parents, carers and family members to lend a hand and help us improve the school environment for our children. This time, we will be focusing on our outdoor spaces, clearing and tidying areas around the school and helping to develop them into exciting places for children to learn, explore and enjoy.

Supporting the school does not always have to mean spending money. Your time is just as valuable, and whether you can spare an hour or join us for the whole morning, every extra pair of hands will make a real difference.

    📅 Friday 9 October
🕘 9.15am–12.15pm — or however long you are able to stay!

And, of course, if you can provide the manpower, we will provide the refreshments!

If you are able to help, please complete our short sign-up form:

Complete the Parent Help Out Day form

On the morning, volunteers should sign in at the school office, where Mrs King will collect you and take you to the areas we will be working on.

  • PTA AGM – Wednesday 7th October

    Published 18/09/26

    **Romilly Primary PTA AGM**

    📅 **Wednesday 7th October**

    ⏰ **3.30–4.00pm, straight after school pick-up**

After a brilliant first year, we’re excited to be building on the momentum of our current PTA team - the team behind RomFest, the summer discos and many of the events that brought our school community together last year.

Our committee is made up of 9 elected roles: our current committee positions, plus two new roles focused on fundraising and grants.

All parents, carers and family members of Romilly Primary pupils are welcome to join the PTA. We rely on parent and teacher volunteers throughout the year to help make our events happen - these are open meetings and groups, you don't need to be elected in to get involved!

We’re also looking for class reps to help connect the PTA with families across the school. If you’re interested, please get in touch at Romillyprimarypta@hotmail.co.uk and let us know what class group you're linked to.

    Want to get involved?

If you’d like to stand for one of the elected committee roles, please send a short bio to romillyprimarypta@hotmail.co.uk by 30th September. Votes will open via google forms from 1st October.

    The 9 elected committee roles

    1. Chair

Providing overall leadership for the PTA and helping the committee work together towards its goals.

    2. Vice Chair

Supporting the Chair and stepping in when needed, while helping with the running of the PTA.

    3. Secretary

Helping keep the PTA organised, including meeting notes, correspondence and committee administration.

    4. Treasurer

Looking after the PTA’s finances, keeping accurate records and helping the committee manage funds responsibly.

    5. Events

Helping plan and organise PTA events throughout the year, from family favourites to new ideas.

    6. Grants

Researching and applying for grants and funding opportunities that could benefit our school, helping us make the most of opportunities available to the PTA.

    7. Communications & Social Media

Keeping parents and carers informed about PTA news, events, fundraising and opportunities to get involved.

    8. School Liaison

A key link between the PTA and school, helping to keep the PTA aligned with the school’s priorities. This role will take requests and ideas from staff, communicate them to the PTA and feed PTA plans and activities back to the school.

    9. Fundraising

Taking the lead on fundraising activities, including lotteries, raffles and easy-fundraising schemes, as well as exploring opportunities such as local business sponsorship.

We’d love you to be part of it

Whether you’d like to take on a committee role, become a class rep, volunteer at events or simply lend a hand when you can — every bit of support makes a difference.

    Committee nominations close: 30th September

  • Outdoor Learning at Romilly

    Published 17/09/26

This term we are excited to announce the introduction of our Outdoor Learning programme, starting with the Year 6 classes. Each class will have an outdoor learning session on a Thursday. The sessions will consist of a range of gardening, Forest School activities and outdoor learning. For these sessions the children will need to bring a waterproof coat and a pair of wellies.

We are keen to develop a bank of resources to support outdoor learning within the school. Since we are starting with Year 6, we are looking for Wellington boots sized between 3-6. Please can all donations of wellies be dropped in the labelled plastic box by the Office doorway. We are also looking for waterproof coats for ages 10-11.

In order to enhance the outdoor learning opportunities that we can provide for the children, we are also looking to collect robust materials that the children could safely use for building, creating and experimenting outdoors. Such as:

    • Decking boards and planks
    • Plastic pipes and guttering
    • Rope
    • Tarpaulins
    • Buckets
    • Crates
    • Cable reels
    • Large tubes

This list is certainly not exhaustive. If you have something that you think could enhance outdoor, open-ended play and construction, please get in touch with us.

We would be particularly grateful if any parents have links with local businesses, builders, landscapers, plumbers, construction companies or other trades who may have suitable surplus or unwanted materials they would be willing to donate. Sometimes the things that are destined for a skip are exactly the things that can inspire the most imaginative play!

All contributions would be gratefully received as they will help us to create and develop exciting spaces where children can explore, build, problem-solve, work together, take appropriate risks and, most importantly, enjoy learning through play.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs  C King
