This term we are excited to announce the introduction of our Outdoor Learning programme, starting with the Year 6 classes. Each class will have an outdoor learning session on a Thursday. The sessions will consist of a range of gardening, Forest School activities and outdoor learning. For these sessions the children will need to bring a waterproof coat and a pair of wellies.

We are keen to develop a bank of resources to support outdoor learning within the school. Since we are starting with Year 6, we are looking for Wellington boots sized between 3-6. Please can all donations of wellies be dropped in the labelled plastic box by the Office doorway. We are also looking for waterproof coats for ages 10-11.

In order to enhance the outdoor learning opportunities that we can provide for the children, we are also looking to collect robust materials that the children could safely use for building, creating and experimenting outdoors. Such as:

• Decking boards and planks
• Plastic pipes and guttering
• Rope
• Tarpaulins
• Buckets
• Crates
• Cable reels
• Large tubes

This list is certainly not exhaustive. If you have something that you think could enhance outdoor, open-ended play and construction, please get in touch with us.

We would be particularly grateful if any parents have links with local businesses, builders, landscapers, plumbers, construction companies or other trades who may have suitable surplus or unwanted materials they would be willing to donate. Sometimes the things that are destined for a skip are exactly the things that can inspire the most imaginative play!

All contributions would be gratefully received as they will help us to create and develop exciting spaces where children can explore, build, problem-solve, work together, take appropriate risks and, most importantly, enjoy learning through play.
