Take a look at the learning ideas menu below. Pick one at a time that you and your child would like to work on. Take your time to explore this idea and develop it into a mini project with your child. We look forward to seeing your work.

Read to an adult or another child each day, try to use expressions and remember all the important parts.

Can you add some action?

Read as many books as you can! The website:

Has some of the best ones you might choose to read.

From your 10 books pick your favourite book and write a book blurb to encourage others to read it.

You could even design a new jacket for the book, with illustrations and made to cover your original book!

Learn to cook!

Find a recipe you really fancy and make it.

Can you write the recipe and instructions out so that you can share it with someone else in school so that they might make it!

Nail your tables, there are lots of websites to help you.

SUMDOG is also great for keeping your maths skills sharp!

Create a model of your home or bedroom. Use an old shoe box to build it in and furnish it with all the right contents. Be creative in making the contents!

Make a news report or a vlog about your time at home include current news. Present an interview with other family members and use their thoughts in your report. Film it if you can!

Make a fitness plan for you and your family. Make a weekly plan and write 10 things you could do each day to keep your minds and bodies healthy. Refer to Joe Wicks “The Body Coach” and “Cosmic Kids” on youtube.

The world

Research a country you would love to visit in the future and produce a tourist brochure to promote it. Try to find somewhere nobody else would have thought of! Use virtual tours online to help you.

Refer to the many Global Goals websites. Explore the different activities that they promote. Can you make a change to improve our environment? Encourage family members to make the same changes.

Create a menu for your family for a week. Consider the ingredients you have already and what else you would need to buy. How creative can you make your meals?

Create a new board game and teach your family the rules. Make sure it is suitable for the whole family to play and you have a set of rules to follow.

Make a presentation about something you are interested in. (Your hobby, a sport, etc)

What facts would you include?

Use your ICT skills if you wish!

Look at a Welsh famous artist and have a go at drawing/painting in their style. There are many to choose from including Kyffin Williams, Martyn Evans and Rhiannon Roberts.

Complete a random act of kindness to a family member. Surprise them by planning ahead and not letting them know it’s going to happen! Eg. Surprise someone by making them breakfast.

Life skill

Learn to master a new skill that you couldn’t do before. Watch youtube tutorials to teach yourself something new. Pass on your new learning to other people or you could even make your own tutorials to teach others.  Eg. play the guitar or solve the rubix cube.
