Dear Parents/Carers,

What a fantastic half term we have had here at Romilly!

The pupils have been very busy this half term working hard with their reading and maths, and also exploring different topics. It has been so lovely to see the children and staff planning and adventuring out on various school trips, carrying out exciting activities to enhance learning, and ensuring that our pupils are receiving real life, authentic learning experiences!

Different year groups have visited places such as Porthkerry Park, Barry Island beach, The Rhondda Heritage Centre, and of course year 5 and 6 have finally accessed their swimming sessions, which they have found thoroughly enjoyable and challenging. The progress they have made in this essential life skill has been fantastic, and we are very proud of their efforts and determination.

We are also very proud of our Year 6 pupils who, as part of their topic, have chosen a coal mining charity to raise money for, and organised a ‘Moveathon’ which included a sponsored fitness afternoon of dancing, walking and running. They have raised over £800 for their chosen charity and will be presented with a cheque by the charity after the Easter break!

We have also had many visitors to the school including a magician, the fire service, a nurse, authors and of course the Easter Bunny!  Nursery children had a very successful and adorable Easter Bonnet Parade, which I hope the parents enjoyed and have made memories from, forever.

Both teachers and pupils have already started planning their topics for next half term, which I know will be full of many more wonderful experiences for them, that will help them grow as individuals and engage them further in their love of learning.

I hope you have been enjoying hearing about the wonderful things that your child has been doing in school through our new Marvellous Me app, and I hope you are finding this communication beneficial. We now have over 90% of our parents engaged with this service. Please do contact the office if you are yet to sign up as we can easily print off your code. Please also remember that you can share your code with other family members, if they would also like to be kept in the loop as to how well your child is doing in school, and to help aid positive discussions about learning at home.

Please can I take this opportunity once again to thank you all so much for your continued support.

Have a wonderful Easter break and we are really looking forward to seeing you again in the new term!

Many thanks,

K.R Williams
