Nursery Blog- Friday 2nd September

What a busy week we have had in Nursery!

📖 Our story: The Little Red Hen
This week, we have continued our work on The Little Red Hen. We have learnt some more actions to help us remember the story and retell it in our own words.

🍞 Making bread:
Just like the Little Red Hen, we had a go at making our own bread! The children followed simple instructions and helped with the different steps needed to make the bread. We talked about the ingredients we needed and enjoyed seeing how they came together to make our very own bread. The best part was enjoying the bread together for our snack!

🎵 Singing and counting:
We have had lots of fun singing our favourite nursery rhymes and counting songs this week. The children are becoming more confident joining in with the words and actions, and we have been practising our counting as we sing.

🌿 Welly Walk and our senses:
We really enjoyed our first Welly Walk this week! We used our five senses to explore the world around us, thinking about what we could see, hear, smell, touch and even taste. We also explored the school allotment, where we had lots of fun looking at what was growing and talking about the different things we could see and find.

Important information for next week

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents’ Evening
A reminder that Parents’ Evening is taking place next week. We are looking forward to welcoming you and having the opportunity to chat about how your child has settled into Nursery and the progress they have made so far.

Tuesday – PE Day
Please remember to wear your PE kit.

Thursday – Welly Walk
Please bring wellies or other suitable outdoor footwear.

Please remember to label all clothing and belongings with your child’s name.

🏡 How you can help at home

✏️ Pencil grip:
We have been practising how to hold our pencils and crayons correctly. At home, encourage your child to practise using the correct pencil grip when drawing and colouring. Activities such as colouring, drawing lines and circles, or making simple marks on paper are a great way to help strengthen the small muscles in their hands and develop their pencil control.

🔤 Recognising and writing their name:
Please continue to help your child practise recognising and writing their own name at home. Encourage them to spot their name and give them opportunities to have a go at writing it themselves. Lots of short, regular practice will help to build their confidence.

🔢 Counting objects:
We have been practising counting objects carefully, making sure we say one number for each object we count. At home, encourage your child to touch or move each object as they count it.

We have had another lovely week in Nursery and are so proud of how well the children are settling in and growing in confidence each week. Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home.
