Nursery Blog – 9th October 2026

This week’s learning – Friday 9th October 2026

Thank you to everyone who came to see us for Parent’s Evening.  It was such as lovely opportunity to catch up with you and for you too see your children in the setting playing.

Our story is The Little Red Hen

We are learning how to use a pencil and crayon and hold it correctly.  We have been practicing drawing circles, zig zag lines, curvy lines and straight lines.  This will help us when we need to write our letters.

We have been practicing counting objects.  We have been careful to count each object accurately.

We have been balancing in PE.

We enjoyed our welly walk.  We had to answer the question “what can you hear ?”

Outside area: We love being outside and in our outdoor areas.

  Important information for next week

  • Please return your consent form for our Christmas trip

  • Tuesday is PE

  • Thursday is welly walk

  • Please remember to label all clothing and belongings with your child’s name.

  • We are collecting food for the Vale Foodbank for our Harvest Festival.  If youwoul dlike to donate please send it in to your class teacher.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

How you can help at home

🧥 Getting dressed independently: Encourage your child to practise putting on and taking off their own coat. Give them plenty of time to have a go by themselves and praise their efforts.

🔤 Recognising their name: Practise helping your child recognise their own name.

Use big handwriting to help – draw circles, lines and squiggles. You can also start to practice writing it.

Counting to 10 – can you count 10 objects ? Can you recognise the numbers 1-5

Reminder: You are invited into school on Friday 23rd at 11am to hear the children sing.  This will be in their nurseries.
