Nursery Blog - Friday 16th October 2026

We have had another busy week of learning in Nursery!

Our story is The Little Red Hen

We talked about characters and changed the Little Red Hen to our own character.  We had some funny ones….please ask your child about them.

We collected leaves on our welly walk and will use them to make a crown.  If you go on a walk, please talk to your children about the sounds around them and collect some autumnal objects for our mud kitchens.

We used play dough to strengthen our fingers! We made different sized pumpkins.

Important information for next week 📅

  • Please return your consent form for our Christmas trip and please pay on parent pay.

  • Don’t forget, come and watch us sing at 11am on Friday 23rd October, in our Nurseries

  • Tuesday is our Halloween disco – please come in your best costumes or favourite clothes. We will be dancing and singing all morning!

  • Thursday is welly walk

  • Please remember to label all clothing and belongings with your child’s name.

How you can help at home 🏡

🧥 Getting dressed independently: Encourage your child to practise putting on and taking off their own coat. Give them plenty of time to have a go by themselves and praise their efforts.

🔤 Recognising their name: Practise helping your child recognise their own name.

Use big handwriting to help – draw circles, lines and squiggles. You can also start to practice writing it.

Using children’s scissors – we are using scissors in class.  It will be helpful to have it reinforced at home, along with how to carry and use the scissors safely.

🔢 Maths: Learn our 2D shapes  Can you help your children learn the 4 main shapes: circle, square, triangle and rectangle.  Can they draw them and even make a picture using the shapes.

We need your help……

If you are able to spare a few hours on Friday 6th November to help us clean up and improve our outdoor environments, please let us know.  We would be grateful for any time you may be able to spare.  If you can please email the office to let them know.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support!
